Vase Yellow Hibiscus, Valbonne, Limoges Porcelain, 2002 – France
Spectacular Limoges porcelain vase, signed and dated. It has an original almond or mandorla shape, in which both curved sides converge into an edge. Its decoration is striking, on the white background, on one of the sides there is a set of cheerful yellow hibiscus, framed in an irregular and asymmetrical golden border or band that runs along the top. On the opposite side, leaves of various shapes, colors and textures on an orange background, integrating dark and gold colors with abstract and floral patterns, suggesting inspiration in Japanese art or Art Deco. All hand painted with an exquisite technique. At the base it reads Peint la main. Valbonne 2002. Limoges, France.
