Kurume Kasuri is a traditional Japanese yarn-dyed woven fabric. It is characterized by a soft texture close to hand-woven fabric. With numerous manual processes involved, it takes 2 to 4 months to complete more than 30 steps and produce the finished textile. This is the perfect fabric for those who wish to produce a unique piece using traditional Japanese woven material.
Kurume Kasuri employs “fermentation construction,” the most labor-intensive traditional method of indigo dyeing. The dyeing process results in subtle variations of color intensity, allowing for a rugged yet refined look. Be careful of dye transfer when handling and washing.
