Two rare mid-century rung chairs from Casala.
A classic Windsor chair design in Scandinavian style. This is evident in the reduced design with the restrained ornamentation. Particularly noteworthy here are the shapes of the legs and bars. The frame is made of solid wood elements with sometimes complex connections. The seat consists of a frame with a plywood surface. The backrest is concave and divided into fine rungs. The upper end of the backrest is traditionally shaped and can also be found in Borge Mogensen’s designs. The complex connections are striking. The penetration of the seat by the spokes and legs in particular gives this design particular stability.
The chairs are in very good condition with signs of wear and patina. Two struts have been repaired.
