Antique Middle Eastern Carpet, Feraghan Style, 19th century. XIX 305 x 155
Beautiful, decorative and exclusive antique Persian rug, made in the 19th century with an artisanal process that no longer exists today. It is a highly valued piece today. It is handmade with natural and durable materials, wool is used on cotton. The way it is knotted and the diversity in its stylistic motifs, with floral and vegetal lacework, and varied geometric shapes make this piece a true work of art. It has, as usual, a central medallion and a rich border framing the floral field.
The decorations of the Feraghan rug – a Middle Eastern region – are highly influenced by the Hrati motif, present in the central medallion. The edge, for its part, is made up of a series of narrow bands also loaded with infinite ornaments. These rugs are very sober and were highly appreciated in English mansions of the Victorian era.
