Delicate cat-shaped figure made in Nao porcelain by Lladr. It presents a dynamic posture, as it seems that it has been caught in the middle of the action, staring at something in a curious way. What is most striking is the tail, which shrinks at the tip, and its blue eyes where its slanted pupils stand out. Soft color characteristic of Lladr porcelain, which shines thanks to its enamelled finish. At the bottom it has the signature Nao. Made in Spain.

NAO is a porcelain brand created by Lladr in 1968 with the aim of offering high-quality porcelain figures at a more affordable price than the pieces in the firm’s main line. Its origin dates back to the expansion of the brothers Juan, Jos and Vicente Lladr, who founded their company in 1953 in Tavernes Blanques, Valencia (Spain).

In 1967, the Lladr brothers acquired a small porcelain factory near Valencia and began working with the best local artisans. It was the birth of a new style, based on the training of the staff and the creation of pieces that were marketed under the name ROSAL. Themes were developed that will remain throughout the years: an idyllic and romantic life, timeless in its representation. Thanks to its success, in 1975 the collection was renamed ZAPHIR, moving production to new, larger facilities. with this change, the creations acquired greater stylization and a broader thematic diversity, a reflection of the mastery of porcelain that the young artisans were perfecting.

In the United States, the brand grew rapidly, consolidating Lladr’s international presence. This led the brothers to look for a new business name with which to expand to other countries. This is how NAO was born, whose name evokes the old sailboats of the Columbian era, a symbol of a journey back to the origins, full of creativity, success and magic.
