This is an antique pair of handmade shadow table lamps made in the late 1800s. The hand-carved wood was decorated with gold leaf and has a beautiful aged patina. These lamps were probably used as palm holders and converted to electricity at a later date. Both still work safely, but it would be advisable to replace the wire, which is still the original. As can be seen from the photos, the lampshades are only half a paralum , so the lamps would be very useful where space is limited, such as on a mantlepiece, shelf, or narrow console. They use E14 bulbs.
