A serene mid-century modernist coastal landscape that captures the essence of a tranquil shoreline, executed in oil onto board and dated 1977 on the reverse. The work exhibits an abstract, yet expressive style, characterised by a loose, painterly approach, and focuses on the interplay of form and colour as opposed to realistic details. The artist has used broad and gestural brushstrokes, creating a sense of movement and fluidity. The use of short expressive dabs used to paint the landscape and sky contrasts with the smooth, almost ethereal handling of the water and sand, which adds character to the painting.
