Early 20th century, vintage, French mirror, in a rich, brown and burnt umber colored, faux bamboo” / turned wood frame, made of beech, with a mirror measuring at: W: 37 cm x H: 28 cm.
Bamboo was a relatively unknown product and not grown naturally in Europe at the time. Hence, furniture makers were inspired to create a “faux” bamboo look, that was used in the late 19th – early 20th centuries, and was a very popular way to make furniture and other products.
Piece is in overall good, original and vintage condition with some marks, signs of age and previous use commensurate with time, as well as a patina of age and time, on the overall structure, frame and mirror (see photos), as can be expected for a piece of this age. Some light marks and signs of age on some areas of the mirror, (see photos), but no cracks or chips.
– The back of the mirror is made of solid wood planks, as was commonly done with earlier models, versus later productions.
– There are two eye hooks on the back of the piece, with a piece of rope, to enable one to hook it onto a wall, horizontally.
– Note: The turned wood components on the left and right sides of the frame, can move or turn slightly, as they were not glued to the top and bottom of the frame; instead they were slid into position, as this is how many mirrors from this period, were designed, but this does not affect the stability of the mirror, whatsoever.
– Piece is solid and sturdy.

*The listed dimensions above and below, are for the piece in its current configuration, based on the fact that the previous owner mounted the hooks into a horizontal position, as can be seen in the photo of the back of the mirror. Should one decide to change the position of the hooks to hang the mirror in a vertical position, (see photo), the width of this mirror will become the height, and the height will become the width.
