Via Appia, Oil Painting, Framed for sale at Pamono

A serene depiction of the historic Via Appia , one of Romes most storied ancient roads, painted by Swedish artist Eric Elfvn (19212008), whose works have been exhibited in public collections including the Moderna Museet in Stockholm, Jnkping Museum, Bors Art Museum, and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. A towering tree with deep green foliage stands prominently in the foreground, casting dappled shadows across the ground. Scattered stone ruins, softened by time and framed by distant cypress trees, dot the rolling landscape, guiding the viewers gaze along the gently curving path. Executed in a semi-abstract modernist style, the painting simplifies forms into bold, geometric shapes while maintaining an organic flow.
