Beautiful antique oak desk chair, in perfect condition. The chair is height adjustable and has an adjustable rocking mechanism. The chair has a cast iron system. The cast iron systems are older and generally better than the later sheet iron systems. Wheels have been replaced by parquet wheels so that the chair can be used comfortably on a parquet and/or tiled floor. The chair was made by the firm J.S Ford Johnson & Co. This firm was a well-known furniture factory of quality furniture at the end of the 19th century. Origin: United States, exported to the UK at the end of the 19th century. Period: Approx. 1880-1890
