The waterfront promenade, St. Mary’s and St. Peter’s Church form the center of the picture. This silhouette is reflected whirring in the water of the Trave in the foreground.
Painted by the well-known artist Otto Schulz Stradtmann, a Hamburg painter who is best known for his northern German landscape motifs as well as city views.
He studied in Hamburg, Weimar, Munich and Amsterdam.
The picture offered here in landscape format is painted in oil on painter’s cardboard.
In addition to the classic choice of motifs, it impresses with the quick art of painting, the pastel colors and the intentional blurring of the objects.
The image dimensions are 50 x 35 cm, including the period-typical frame 58.5 x 44 cm. It is signed O.Schulz Stradtmann lower right.
