Asuperb and rare, early Double Gourd soda syphon. Made from hand blown glass surrounded by a protective wire mesh, the tap is made from Pewter which has the makers mark Vritable Seltzogne D Fevre Paris 5 and has the makers signature engraved on the neck. Circa 1890.
Widely known as a Seltzogenes or Gazogenes. The bottom sphere would have contained the water and the top housed a mixture of bicarbonate of soda and tartaric acid.
This syphon has lovely patinated to the wire mesh around the double-ball shape bottle. This rare parisian soda syphon would make a great addition to your home, bar or rustic-farmhouse style kitchen.
